Reviews about Ober Gatlinburg Ski Area & Amusement Park
- 2 / 5By Todd NipperNearly all of the staff are Hispanic and don't speak English very well. Food on the patio by entrance to ski school and general ski area was absolutely terrible and extremely overpriced. Orientation of building is not indicative of convenience. Lockers are nowhere near the ski areas. Have to walk everywhere is ski boots because there's no where to put them outside. Manufactured snow was ok but it wasn't distributed on the ski area making it icy, slippery and hard for the novice to get familiar on their skis. On the other hand the tubing was great fun. Kids had a blast. Small areas to play in snow with kids.
On other issue is the pricing. Be careful with what you tell them you want. I asked about group ski lessons. He acknowledged that I wanted a group and proceeded to sign me up for 4 lessons at regular price. There is no group lessons. I got a refund. You can almost learn as much from watching the obviously more experienced skiers. They show you how to stop, that's about it. (I observed a class in session). Probably worth it if your not an active person. I play sports and have a history with outdoor activities.May 25, 2017 - 5 / 5By Anita KingreeOber Gatlinburg is a great experience even if you just want to ride the lift and experience the sweeping views. When you reach the top there are many activities you can pay to do. You can pay money or buy attraction tickets beforehand. Some activities include ice skating, rides, tubing, and much more. I believe ice skating is about $9 for 3 hours and it includes skate rental. There is also an arcade and mini golf. check out their website to see what's open ahead of time, because some activities are only available during certain seasons.May 04, 2017
- 4 / 5By Bridget GaughanOber really has everything you need as far as winter sports go. Ice skating, tubing, skiing, and snowboarding, and restaurants/shopping for anyone that doesn't want to participate in winter sports. One con for me was the caged bears- I'm not a fan of animals in cages. Also, we weren't aware of the extra charge for the tram ride. We bought tubing tickets online and expected to go straight to tubing but had to pay $13 for tram tickets to get to the top. There isn't free parking either... but we had a blast and got to experience tubing in real snow! It's not extremely commercial like a lot of downtown Gatlinburg which I appreciated. All around good time with friendly staff and something for everybody.July 30, 2016
